"Students with disabilities in higher education" - coming study

This is an exploratory triangulating study to elicit understanding of how students with disabilities experience their participation in vocational education programs within health care, social work and teaching, and the perspectives from staff and practicum mentors on supporting them in transition to and through professional field work.

The paper presents findings from a survey of students with disabvility (SWD) in six European universities. The aim was to discover which needs required fulfillment for (SWD) to participate fully in higher education. Results show students identify needs in the areas of information, pedagogy, physical environment, and attitudes about disability.

Japan has enacted the anti-discrimination law and ratified the UN convention on the rights of people with disabilities. We illustrate the changing situation and expectations for the future of education for people with disabilities in Japan through our DO-IT Japan activities and postsecondary practices among Japanese higher educational institutions.
From education to work - disability policy and practical good examples from the Nordic countries

This presentation is based on two development projects, operated by Nordic Centre for Welfare and Social issues (NVC), concerning first of all disability policy in the Nordic countries (focus on education) and an overview of proceedings in the policies. And second (UA-project) – Nordic good examples of transition from higher education to work for persons with disability. UA-project includes also the Nordic recommendations to Universities. The last part will refer to interviews with employers in the public and prvate sector.
